Concrete Batching Plant Mixer Types
2025.07.02
There are various concrete batching plant mixer types, different types of mixers have differences in structure, working principle and applicable scenarios. Different types of concrete mixers are suitable for different construction needs. Choosing a suitable batching plant mixer can improve work efficiency and concrete quality.
The following are common types of batching plant mixers and their characteristics:
1. Classification by mixing principle
- Self-falling concrete mixer
Working principle: The inner wall of the mixing drum is equipped with blades. When the mixing drum rotates, the blades lift the material to a certain height, and then the material falls due to its own weight. The material is repeatedly dropped and interlaced and turned over to achieve mixing.
Features: Simple structure, low cost, easy maintenance, but low mixing intensity, long mixing time, suitable for mixing concrete with high fluidity, such as plastic concrete, low fluidity concrete, etc.
Common types
Drum mixer: The mixing drum is drum-shaped. When the drum rotates, the material is lifted and dropped by the blades in the drum to achieve mixing.
Conical reverse discharge mixer: The mixing drum is double-conical, with forward mixing and reverse discharge, easy operation and clean discharge.
- Forced concrete mixer
Working principle: Through the rotation of the mixing blades installed in the mixing drum, the materials are forced to perform violent relative motion and shear friction, thereby achieving rapid and uniform mixing.
Features: high mixing efficiency, good mixing quality, suitable for mixing dry hard concrete, high-strength concrete and concrete with admixtures, etc. However, the structure is relatively complex, the energy consumption is high, and the price is also high.
Common types
Vertical shaft forced mixer: The mixing shaft is arranged vertically, and there are turboprop and planetary types. The blades of the turboprop mixer move in a circle around the mixing shaft, and the materials form a complex motion trajectory in the mixing drum; the blades of the planetary mixer not only rotate themselves, but also revolve around the mixing shaft, and the mixing is more uniform.
Horizontal shaft forced mixer: The mixing shaft is arranged horizontally, and there are single-shaft and double-shaft types. The twin-shaft concrete mixer has two parallel mixing shafts with mixing blades installed on the shafts. The two shafts rotate in opposite directions, so that the materials are strongly stirred in the mixing drum. It has high mixing efficiency and large production capacity. It is a mixer that is widely used in concrete mixing plants.

2. Classification by production capacity
- Small concrete mixer:
The production capacity is small, and the output is generally less than 50 cubic meters per hour. It is often used in small construction projects, rural construction and other scenes.
- Medium concrete mixer:
The output is between 50-100 cubic meters per hour, suitable for general industrial and civil construction projects.
- Large concrete mixer:
The output is more than 100 cubic meters per hour, mainly used for large-scale concrete production such as large water conservancy projects, bridge projects, high-rise buildings, etc.
3. Classification by movement
- Fixed concrete mixer: Fixedly installed on the basis of the concrete batching plant, fixed position, large production capacity, suitable for long-term and stable concrete production.
- Mobile concrete mixer: It has a movable chassis and can be moved between different construction sites. It is convenient and flexible. It is suitable for construction projects with large mobility, such as road construction and field operations.
Different types of mixers play different roles in concrete batching plants. Users can choose the appropriate batching plant mixer type based on specific project requirements, concrete types, production scale and other factors to ensure the mixing quality and production efficiency of concrete.
